STORY TIMES

“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”
-Emilie Buchwald

Singing, talking, rhyming and reading to young children builds important early literacy connections in their rapidly developing brains.
Typically, the library hosts a variety of STORY TIME classes for kids.  Story times help children develop language skills, a love for books, comfort in the library, and the important Six Pre-Reading Skills through rhymes, songs, movement, play, and the best books. Classes are free, fun, relaxed, and children of all abilities and attention spans are welcome.

Currently, the library is not open to foot traffic, and we are providing many services as safely as possible via curbside (take home) and virtually. Check out our story times through our YouTube Channel, and pick-up the early literacy kits (“story times in a bag”) that we have available for you to enjoy with your little ones. We are happy to gather books for you to share with your child(ren) as well.  To visit with Youth Services Librarian, Miss Jo, to gather books, arrange for early literacy kits, get book suggestions, etc., email jbrazil@wpl.org.

Thank you for singing, talking, reading to, and loving your sweet child(ren)!  Thank you for RAISING A READER!
