Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries are open in Winfield!
Winfield’s Little Free Libraries are waiting for readers to stop by and take a book – no library card needed!  Lovingly built by Justin Hogan’s WHS shop class and hand-painted by Karen Fritzlen and Martha Fitzwater, five are open in Winfield:
Adjacent to City Hall, 1417 Pine Terrace
Winfield Housing Authority, 1417 Pine Terrace
Cowley County Historical Museum, 1101 Mansfield Street
Canterbury Village school bus pickup point, 12th & St. James Court
The Broadway Sports Complex, 2200 Broadway
While the libraries may contain a few adult titles, they primarily hold children’s books that have been donated to WPL.  WPL’s Library Board is committed to getting books into the hands of children, and the Little Free Libraries enables the donation to kids of books that are not needed in the collection.  Donations for the Little Free Libraries – both books and financial support – are welcome.  Members of the Friends of the Library are caring for the libraries/books as needed – however, more help is needed.  Contact WPL if you wish to to help.
Thanks to the Friends of the Library for this community initiative; to Karen and Martha for their talent; to Justin Hogan and the WHS Shop Class, and to the Parks Department for installing the libraries.
Take a book, love a book, leave a book.
