NOVEMBER FRIENDS MEETING
November 9, at 7 pm, Friends of WPL will meet at the Winfield Public Library Community Meeting Room for the first time in the newly renovated space!
All must enter the back (west) entrance.
Program: Alice Shaffer will speak about Cowley County Humane Society. She will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about the history of the shelter, its mission, funding and programs.
All are welcome to attend. Contact the library if you would like to join, or follow the instructions below (there is even a brochure to print at home for your convenience.)
The Friends of the Winfield Public Library is a nonprofit, volunteer organization with a seven member board. The Friends have provided continued library support throughout the years. In addition to financial contributions, they have added a needed voice advocating the value of the Library to the Winfield community.
Your Friends membership helps to provide library materials and programs that may not be covered normal budget resources. Through membership fees, book sales, and other fundraising projects the Friends have been able to sponsor Adult & Kids Summer Reading, special exhibits, music concerts, collection development, and building landscaping.
The Friends of the Library would like to welcome you to join the Friends and invite you to the meetings that are held on the second Monday of every month at 7:00pm. It is easy to join. Pick up a Friends membership brochure at the library. Make your check payable to the Winfield Public Library and the membership levels are as follows:
- In-Kind (volunteer) 2 Hours of service
- Student $5.00
- Individual $10.00

Everyone needs friends and the library is no different. Your membership is important but your time and expertise as a volunteer, helping with book sales, and working on committees to bring fresh ideas is invaluable.
We would like all of our patrons to be a Friend of the Library to demonstrate support and appreciation for the library and to continue success to foster literacy and reading within our community for another 100 years. For more information on the Friends, contact the library at (620) 221-4470.
