Free Workshops by the Cowley Workforce Center

The Winfield Public Library and Cowley Workforce Center will have available free workshops designed to help individuals with their resumes, interviewing techniques, and introduction to Microsoft Word 2007. These free workshops will be held on Thursday February, 4,11,18, and 28.

  • February 4, 1:00-4:00pm “Creating a Resume“  This workshop is designed primarily for job seekers with basic computer skills who do not have a resume.  Topics include: what information belongs on a resume, examples of different resume styles, and information on the language and transferable skills to incorporate on their resume.
  • February 11, 1:00-4:00pm “Advance Resume“  This workshop is designed to help job seekers create a resume that will assist them in presenting their skills/experience in a professional and eye-catching manner.  Job seekers are to bring a copy of their resume. Topics include: common resume mistakes to avoid, the importance of using keywords, and information on how to create cover and thank you letters.
  • February 18, 1:00-4:00pm “Interview Success” This workshop prepares you for today’s interview world by teaching every aspect of the employment interview process. Topics include: understanding the interview process, how to answer tough interview questions, and interview preparations & research.
  • February 25, 1:00-4:00pm “Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007 This workshop is designed to help  individuals learn the fundamentals of the Microsoft Word 2007 program.  Basic computer skills are needed for this workshop. Topics include: understanding how tools and buttons are organized, opening & saving documents, and creating & formatting a document.

     All Cowley Workfoce workshops require pre-registration:
Contact the Library at 620-221-4470 to reserve a spot. Seating is limited. All attendees must have a KANSASWORKS “Plus Account”  (
www.kansasworks.com) and must provide proof of age and authorization to work in the United States.  To document this, please bring a valid Drivers License or state issued indentification card and Social Security Card.  Other forms of documentation may also be accepted.
