Library Taking Applications for Youth Assistant Position

This 20-30 hour/week position works collaboratively, under the direction of the Youth Services Librarian to create and facilitate library programming and outreach services targeted to a youth audience. Flexible schedule requires some evening and weekend hours.

What you know:

  • Experience working with children
  • Practical knowledge and experiences with marketing, including social media
  • Practical knowledge of office applications and web publishing
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills as well as effective oral and written presentation skills
  • Demonstrated public services/support attitude to effectively meet, communicate with and serve the public
  • How to use problem solving and organizational skills to coordinate multiple projects/programs and the ability to work under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities
  • College degree welcome, some college required

What you’ll do:

  • Work with the Youth Services Librarian to plan and implement library – based programs and events for children
  • Work with her to develop and implement plans for extending library services into the community
  • Communicate effectively with customers, staff and library administration
  • Deliver work product and service with responsiveness, courtesy, and tact
  • Participate in the public service desk rotation, as required
  • Perform related work as required and assigned

Hourly wage commensurate with education and experience
