When do the ballots go out?
The ballots will be mailed on Feb. 7th to all registered voters within the city limits. It must be returned to the county clerk’s office no later than noon on Feb. 25th.
What will the renovation cost me?
The ballot initiative is asking for a .40 % sales tax for 7 years. It will designate $900,000 for the renovation project and about $4.1 million for street repair.
People will pay 40 cents on $100.00 spent with merchants within the WInfield city limits for both library renovations & street repair. Of that 40 cents, less than 8 cents will go toward the library project with about 32 cents going toward street repair.
That means, if you spend $100 wk, $4.16/year will go toward the library renovation project and $16.64 toward street repair.
Over the course of the tax, you will pay $29.12 for a beautiful renovated library and $116.48 for repaired streets.
